Motivations and level knowledge of preuniversities students about the buccal piercing in the municipality of Bejucal

Abstract

Introduction: the use of the buccal piercings has become a frequent practice in the adolescents that it can end up being a problem of public health. The vertiginous form in that its use has increased in the current society motivated this investigation.


Objective: of determining the motivations and the level of the students of the preuniversities knowledge "Captain Eduardo Garc?a" on the buccal piercing.

Method: it carried a descriptive study, of cross section in the understood period from October of 2019 until December of 2020. The universe was constituted by 270 students whose sample coincided with the population, to which were carried out clinical exam and they were applied a survey. For the statistical analysis, the picked up information processed, using the percentage like summary measure, shown the results through statistical charts.

Results: it obtained that 16,32 % of the registration presented piercing, among the motivations of the students to place the piercing the influence of the social nets and media prevailed, as well as the necessity to increase the physical attractiveness and the concern for the fashion with 22,44 %, 16,32 % and 14,28 % respectively. The insufficient level of knowledge prevailed with 61,48 %; being bigger in the feminine sex with 53,33 % and in the tenth grade with 71,91 %.

Conclusions: the use of the buccal piercing prevailed in the feminine sex and the tenth grade, as for the level of knowledge in the students was insufficient.
