Policy on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)
AI tools such as ChatGPT, Midjourney, and others do not meet the authorship requirements, as they cannot take responsibility for the submitted work since they are not “people” and do not have legal personality. They also cannot assert the presence or absence of conflicts of interest or manage licensing and copyright agreements.
The AI model is not currently designed to make critical decisions or for uses that have material consequences on a person's livelihood or well-being. This includes situations involving healthcare.
COLUMNA MÉDICA DOES NOT ACCEPT TEXTS, IMAGES, GRAPHICS OR ANY OTHER VISUAL MATERIAL PRODUCED BY ANY AI
However, authors may use AI tools in the translation of a manuscript, or in data collection and analysis, provided they are transparent by disclosing in the Methods of the article (or a similar section) details of how the tool was used and which one was used.
