Accidental traumatic flail chest, a case report

Introduction: flailing chest is the loss of support of a segment of the chest wall, caused by multiple fractures of several contiguous ribs. It constitutes a medical emergency and its treatment it's surgical.
Objective: Describe the diagnosis and management of the Thorax traumatic swing through a presentation of a case.
Case presentation: 38-year-old male patient who suffered a car accident and who entered in the General Surgery service of the General Hospital Teacher "Dr. Agostinho Neto? from Guant?namo. Flail chest and chest injury were diagnosed. penetrating. The clinical diagnosis was confirmed by simple chest radiography, where it was observed closed fracture of three rib cage bones left rib and a small fracture in the sternum. Emergency thoracotomy with lobectomy was performed. upper left, neurography, synthesis of the arches ribs, chest drainage and wall stabilization thoracic He was discharged from hospital with evolution satisfactory.
?Conclusions: one of the main causes of thorax hinged are traffic accidents. The observation of the paradoxical movement of the wall, is enough to make the diagnosis. Plain chest x-ray it is vital for its clinical diagnosis. It is important the urgency with which this entity is treated, for the obtaining satisfactory results and evolution. It also largely depends on the treatment. opportune since the patient is assisted in the place of the accident until its definitive treatment in the hospital.
