Abstract

Dermatomyositis is an idiopathic inflammatory disease that involves the skin and skeletal muscle. In certain cases, it may present as a paraneoplastic syndrome, that is, as an initial or concomitant manifestation of an occult neoplasm. Scientific literature reports a frequent association with oncological processes, with ovarian, lung, and breast neoplasms being the most prevalent. To a lesser extent, its relationship with colorectal cancer has been described, occurring in approximately 15–20% of cases.
